Manila: 13th - 17th October 2008

Hi,
Again, I’m back in Manila, one of my favorite city. This time it’s just a short trip and will have a meeting with few customers before goin’ back home. Nothing fancy to talk about, just a few meeting and at the point of writing this, I haven’t been to anywhere yet. Probably I will walk around and look for something interesting later, well, AIRSOFT! of course…

_44269376_manila_hotel_map416.gifThis time I’m staying in Peninsula Hotel, Manila, one of the premier hotel here in Manila. It is located on the corner of Ayala Avenue and Makati Avenue in in the central business district of Makati City, in Metro Manila. It is located also in Barangay Urdaneta. This hotel is part of The Peninsula Hotels chain based in Hong Kong and is the first hotel of that chain outside of the Chinese territory. The Peninsula asserted itself as the “Jewel in the Capital’s Crown”.

The Manila Peninsula rebellion
3921normallx4.jpgThe Manila Peninsula rebellion occurred on November 29, 2007. Detained Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, General Lim and other Magdalo officials walked out of their trial and marched through the streets of Makati City, called for the ouster of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and seized the second floor of The Peninsula Manila along Ayala Avenue. Former Vice-President Teofisto Guingona also joined the march to The Peninsula Manila Hotel as well as some of the soldiers from the Armed Forces of the Philippines. The siege was ended after the MARINES stormed the building and the occupiers arrested.

The interesting part is, Philipines Marines were involved in ending the siege and it ended bloodless…
